Tennis rankings history

ESPN's weekly ATP and WTA ranking lists since 2007, top 100 to 150 a week: rank, previous rank and points, and each player's history.

AcesAPI serves the weekly ATP and WTA ranking lists ESPN keeps, from 2007 to the newest list: each player's rank, previous rank and points, the top 100 to 150 a week.

ESPN keeps 35 to 49 lists a full year for each tour, so some weeks are missing; the table below counts the lists held each year, read from the database. Ask for a list by season and week, the list in force on a date, or one player's whole ranking history with get_rankings.

Questions

How deep do the lists go?

The top 100 to 150 each week, as ESPN publishes them. A player ranked lower has no row that week.

Is every week there?

No. ESPN keeps 35 to 49 lists a full year per tour; the table shows how many for each year.

Can I get one player's ranking history?

Yes. get_rankings with a player_id returns every list the player appears on, with their best rank.

What it will not do

  • Top 100 to 150 only.
  • Weeks ESPN does not keep are missing; nothing is filled in.
