Set and game score

also: score line · 6-4 6-3

A match's result written set by set, games for the winner first: 6-4 3-6 7-6(5).

Tennis is scored in points, games and sets. The score of a finished match is the games each player won in each set, written from the winner's side, so a three-set match reads 6-4 3-6 7-6(5) whichever player is listed first in the data.

Every match here stores the games of each set for both players (match_sets) and a score string rebuilt from them, and the score is checked against the result line ESPN prints for the match. Retirements end with ret. and the unfinished set as it stood; walkovers have no sets and read w/o.

The common mistake

player1 and player2 are ESPN's order, not winner and loser. The score string is winner-first, but sets1, games1 and each set's games1 belong to player1. Read winner_id before reading a score as a win.
